Sieve flour, baking powder & bi-carb into a large mixing bowl stir in salt & sugar

Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients slowly pour in melted butter followed by the beer while mixing until the bread begins to come together tip out onto a lightly floured surface and begin to kneed

If the dough is too sticky add more flour - kneed for 5 minutes until the dough holds shape

Grease & flour a baking tray and place bread onto the tray ready to bake - alternatively place into a greased loaf pan

Bake for approximately 35-45mins depending on the oven

Serve warm with lashings of butter! Awesome in a Cheese Toastie or drizzle with Maple Syrup...

NOTE: You can use alternative beer styles however the darker beers will give a richer flavour!

Tip Top Tips

This bread works well as either a sweet or savoury bread Add some cheese & fresh herbs or a touch more sugar & some dried fruit Try different styles of beer for differing flavours

You can replace the beer with soda water

You can use self - raising flour in place of the plain flour, baking powder & bi-carb soda
